When will I get my IELTS exam results?

You won’t have to wait long for your IELTS exam results. Depending on which IELTS test you have taken, you will get your results as shown below:

When will I get my online IELTS test results ?

You can access your IELTS test results online within 24 to 48 hours after completing the test on computer. For IELTS on a computer, an electronic Test Report Form (ETRF) will be available for download from Test Taker portal which can serve as official confirmation of your performance.

You may print the ETRF to share with organizations you are applying to or send it via email. Additionally, results can be sent directly to organizations through the Test Taker portal.

How do the institutions I'm applying to get my IELTS Test Results?

We will send your IELTS test results and Test Report Form (TRF) directly to the institutions you’re applying to. 

Institutions on STED list:

  • Institutions listed in the STED (Secure Test Results Delivery) system will receive an online notification. You can provide the required details via the Test Taker Portal during registration. 

Institutions NOT on STED list:

If the institution requires a hard copy of the TRF, you can request it through the Application for the Issuance of Additional TRF. The British Council will send the official TRF directly to the specified institution (e.g., universities, immigration offices). Additional charges will apply, and the candidate can submit the request via the ATRF link provided above. The standard charges are detailed in the pricing policy, available in the download section. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Can I get additional copies of my IELTS on computer results?

All IELTS on computer candidates receive an electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) after results are released. The e-TRF is accessible via the Test Taker Portal and remains available for up to two years.  

Hard-copy TRF requests are only considered in exceptional circumstances, requiring a valid reason with supporting evidence. Each request is reviewed individually, and issuance is at the discretion of the British Council.

Can I get hardcopy of my IELTS Life Skills result?

Once your IELTS Life Skills test results are released, you will receive the Test Report Form at your registered address within 7 working days, provided that it is a complete and locally accessible courier address. If you have not received it, please write to us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk  mentioning your IELTS registration number.  

Requests for additional IELTS Life Skills hard-copy Test Report Forms (TRFs) are considered only in exceptional circumstances. Candidates must provide a valid reason along with supporting evidence to justify the request.   

All hard-copy TRF requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and issuance is at the discretion of the British Council.

What do my IELTS test results score mean?

You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each test section, which reflects your proficiency in English.

You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each of the 4 test sections. 

Your Test Results Form (TRF) shows an individual score for each of the four skills: so you get an IELTS Reading score, IELTS Listening score, IELTS Writing and IELTS Speaking score, as well as an overall IELTS band score. You can score whole band scores (for example 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half band scores (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in each section of the test.

How to get your IELTS test re-marked?

If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked and will need to request this at the test centre where you sat the test.

Your fee will be refunded if your score is increased for any section of the test

You can Pay for your EOR in the following ways:

  • As a most economical way, you can pay by interbank transfer (IBFT) through Online banking or ATM. Find out the payment process details here. 
  • You can pay by bank draft (made payable to ‘British Council Pakistan’). Bank Drafts should be sent to our office locations
  • You can deposit cash at your local Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) / Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB). Use our bank details to make the payment
  • You can also deposit cash in your Virtual Account in any SCB branch which has been already created against your IELTS registration number

You need to apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date.

EOR requests for IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer:

You can submit and pay for an Enquiry on Results (EOR) online from the Test Taker portal.

EOR request for IELTS for UKVI Life Skills:

If you have taken an IELTS Life Skills test and would like to apply for an Enquiry on Results, please click on the EOR Link.

Your result will normally be available in 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark. If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact info@britishcouncil.org.pk or 0800-22000.

Appeals & Investigations:

Candidate can apply for an appeal in 21 calendar days of receiving notification of decision.

The appeals process allows for reviews in 2 consecutive stages.

Stage 1 – Case review by Independent Authority

Test Takers must submit their application within 21 calendar days of receiving notification of decision and will be notified of the outcome of their appeal within 10 weeks of submission.

Stage 2 – Case review by Appeal Committee

Test Takers who are dissatisfied after the Stage 1 decision, may submit an application for a Stage 2 Appeal. Test Takers must apply within 14 calendar days of the receipt of the outcome of the first stage appeal and will be notified of the outcome of their appeal within 10 weeks of submission.

If you are not happy with your IELTS results, you can apply for an enquiry on result where your test will be remarked by a senior IELTS examiner. You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked (Reading, Writing, Listening, or Speaking) or can request a remark for the whole test no later than six weeks after the test date. 

Your IELTS band score does not go down from a remark. So, it will either remain unchanged or increase.

You can apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date. You will not be able to apply for EOR after six weeks have passed.

Result will normally be available on the same day to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark.

·       If you have taken the computer-based IELTS test, you will be able to view your IELTS results after 24 to 48 hours from the test date.

For IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer, an electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) is issued once results are released. You can download your e-TRF from the Test Taker Portal for up to two years from the test date. Hard-copy TRFs are not issued as a standard service for computer-delivered tests. If a receiving organisation not registered under the Secure Test Results Delivery (STED) system requires a hard copy, you may apply through the Application for the Issuance of Additional TRF. Requests are considered only in exceptional circumstances, require supporting evidence, and are subject to approval. Applicable fees are listed in the IELTS pricing policy in the downloads section. Where approved, the TRF will be sent directly to the organisation. Results are not disclosed by phone or email.

Your IELTS test results remains valid for a period of 2 years

If your IELTS test results have been released, you will receive the TRF at your registered address within 7 working days, provided it was a complete & local courier accessible address. In case you have not received it, please write to us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk mentioning your IELTS registration number.

You are entitled to five free additional copies of your ETRF which can be sent directly to receiving organizations (viz. universities, immigration offices, etc) you are applying to.

For IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer, you can send your results to institutions through the Test Taker Portal. 

Institutions registered under the Secure Test Results Delivery (STED) system will receive your results electronically once you add their details in the portal. 

If a receiving organisation is not listed under STED and requires a hard-copy TRF, you may submit a request through the Application for the Issuance of Additional TRF. Hard-copy requests are considered only in exceptional circumstances, require supporting evidence, and are subject to approval. Applicable fees are available in the IELTS pricing policy in the downloads section. 

Candidates are entitled to only one copy of the Test Report Form. You can avail another copy of the TRF if you have applied for Canadian Immigration and Citizenship and can provide us with the relevant documents. Please email your request with relevant documents at info@britishcouncil.org.pk

For IELTS on Computer, your electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) is available in the Test Taker Portal for up to two years from the test date and can be downloaded again at any time. 

For paper-based IELTS and IELTS for UKVI Life Skills, if you lose your original hard-copy TRF, you may request an Application for the Issuance of Additional TRF. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be supported with valid identification and relevant documentation.

IELTS uses a 9-band scoring system to measure and report test scores in a consistent manner. You receive individual IELTS band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine. You can reach detailed information regarding the IELTS test format and scoring from our website. 

You can log in to the Test TakerPortal to preview your IELTS results. IELTS Results remain online for 28 days but should not be used as an official confirmation of your performance.

If you have taken IELTS on a computer, you will be able to preview your results after 24 to 48 hours from the test date.

 Please follow below simple steps to submit your enquiry on result request:           

  • For IELTS On Computer and IELTS on Computer for UKVI you will need to request EOR through the Test Taker Portal 
  • For IELTS Life Skills click on the EOR Link.
  • Submit the enquiry on result fee as mentioned in the IELTS Pricing policy document available in the download section below.

Your result will normally be available on the same day or up to 21 days of EOR application, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark. If you have not received a response after 21 days, please contact info@britishcouncil.org.pk or 0800-22000. 

Please refer to the EOR fees section in the IELTS Pricing policy document available in the download section below. You will have to pay this before you submit the online application. The fee is the same whether you ask us to remark all test modules, or just one. 

 For IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer, hard-copy TRFs are not issued as a standard service. You can download your electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) from the Test Taker Portal once your results are released. 

If you have submitted an approved Additional Test Report Form (ATRF) request and the receiving organisation has not received the TRF after seven working days, please contact us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk, quoting your IELTS registration number. 

For IELTS Life Skills, the hard-copy TRF is dispatched to your registered address. If you do not receive it within seven working days, please contact us using the details above.
