When will I get my IELTS exam results?
You won’t have to wait long for your IELTS exam results. Depending on which IELTS test you have taken, you will get your results as shown below:

When will I get my online IELTS test results ?
You can access your IELTS test results online within 24 to 48 hours after completing the test on computer. For IELTS on a computer, an electronic Test Report Form (ETRF) will be available for download from Test Taker portal which can serve as official confirmation of your performance.
You may print the ETRF to share with organizations you are applying to or send it via email. Additionally, results can be sent directly to organizations through the Test Taker portal.
How do the institutions I'm applying to get my IELTS Test Results?
We will send your IELTS test results and Test Report Form (TRF) directly to the institutions you’re applying to.
Institutions on STED list:
- Institutions listed in the STED (Secure Test Results Delivery) system will receive an online notification. You can provide the required details via the Test Taker Portal during registration.
Institutions NOT on STED list:
If the institution requires a hard copy of the TRF, you can request it through the Application for the Issuance of Additional TRF. The British Council will send the official TRF directly to the specified institution (e.g., universities, immigration offices). Additional charges will apply, and the candidate can submit the request via the ATRF link provided above. The standard charges are detailed in the pricing policy, available in the download section. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Can I get additional copies of my IELTS on computer results?
All IELTS on computer candidates receive an electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) after results are released. The e-TRF is accessible via the Test Taker Portal and remains available for up to two years.
Hard-copy TRF requests are only considered in exceptional circumstances, requiring a valid reason with supporting evidence. Each request is reviewed individually, and issuance is at the discretion of the British Council.

Can I get hardcopy of my IELTS Life Skills result?
Once your IELTS Life Skills test results are released, you will receive the Test Report Form at your registered address within 7 working days, provided that it is a complete and locally accessible courier address. If you have not received it, please write to us at info@britishcouncil.org.pk mentioning your IELTS registration number.
Requests for additional IELTS Life Skills hard-copy Test Report Forms (TRFs) are considered only in exceptional circumstances. Candidates must provide a valid reason along with supporting evidence to justify the request.
All hard-copy TRF requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and issuance is at the discretion of the British Council.
What do my IELTS test results score mean?
You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each test section, which reflects your proficiency in English.
You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each of the 4 test sections.
Your Test Results Form (TRF) shows an individual score for each of the four skills: so you get an IELTS Reading score, IELTS Listening score, IELTS Writing and IELTS Speaking score, as well as an overall IELTS band score. You can score whole band scores (for example 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half band scores (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in each section of the test.
How to get your IELTS test re-marked?
If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked and will need to request this at the test centre where you sat the test.

You can Pay for your EOR in the following ways:
- As a most economical way, you can pay by interbank transfer (IBFT) through Online banking or ATM. Find out the payment process details here.
- You can pay by bank draft (made payable to ‘British Council Pakistan’). Bank Drafts should be sent to our office locations
- You can deposit cash at your local Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) / Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB). Use our bank details to make the payment
- You can also deposit cash in your Virtual Account in any SCB branch which has been already created against your IELTS registration number
You need to apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date.
EOR requests for IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer:
You can submit and pay for an Enquiry on Results (EOR) online from the Test Taker portal.
EOR request for IELTS for UKVI Life Skills:
If you have taken an IELTS Life Skills test and would like to apply for an Enquiry on Results, please click on the EOR Link.
Your result will normally be available in 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark. If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact info@britishcouncil.org.pk or 0800-22000.

Appeals & Investigations:
Candidate can apply for an appeal in 21 calendar days of receiving notification of decision.

The appeals process allows for reviews in 2 consecutive stages.
Stage 1 – Case review by Independent Authority
Test Takers must submit their application within 21 calendar days of receiving notification of decision and will be notified of the outcome of their appeal within 10 weeks of submission.
Stage 2 – Case review by Appeal Committee
Test Takers who are dissatisfied after the Stage 1 decision, may submit an application for a Stage 2 Appeal. Test Takers must apply within 14 calendar days of the receipt of the outcome of the first stage appeal and will be notified of the outcome of their appeal within 10 weeks of submission.
