IELTS cancellation and refund policy

Cancelling your IELTS test
If you cancel your IELTS test up to five weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee. No supporting documents/evidence is required in this case.
If you cancel your IELTS test within five weeks before the test date up to fifth day after the test date because of serious illness, bereavement, hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident or military service you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee and applicable tax. supporting documents/evidence is required in this case.
No refunds will be allowed for IELTS within five weeks of the test date. Exemptions from this policy are:
- Serious illness or medical incident (such as hospital admission or a major injury)
- Bereavement - loss of a close family member
- Hardship or trauma (such as being a victim of crime or involved in a traffic accident)
- Military service.
To cancel your IELTS (Academic and General Training) test, please log in to the Test Taker Portal and submit a cancellation request, along with an upload of supporting documentation/evidence.
Only original coloured medical certificates in English are accepted. If we have not received the required documents maximum by the fifth working day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims. Sick notes issued by family members are not acceptable
Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process and Government Sales Tax amount is non-refundable
Requesting a test day transfer
If you need to change the date of your test from the date you originally booked, you can request a test day transfer at least 35 calendar days before the test date, free of charge. No supporting documents/evidence is required in this case.
Example: For 30th April test date, if we receive the complete application before 26 March, the test day transfer would be free of charge.
If you change your IELTS test within 35 calendar days before the test date up to fifth day after the test date because of serious illness, bereavement, Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident or Military Service an administration fee of 25% of the test fee and applicable tax would be charged. Supporting documents/evidence is required in this case.
Example: For 30th April test date, if we receive the complete application after 27 March, the test day transfer fee would be applicable.

Please note that the new test date must be within three months of the original date.
If you receive a transfer to a new test date (either before the test or due to illness) and are ill on the second test date, then you are not entitled to a refund of the test fee nor to any further transfer to a new test date.
Test centre exceptions
Under certain circumstances outside test centre control, we may have to cancel your test. These circumstances include, and are not limited to, extreme weather conditions, natural disaster, civil unrest, industrial action, global pandemic or for reasons of force majeure.
In these circumstances, your test centre will provide you with as much notice as possible and give you the choice of either a full refund, or a transfer to a future test date – whichever you prefer.
