Exams re-marking (Enquiry about Results and RoMM)

If you believe your grade does not reflect your work, you may want to consider re-marking or retakes.

Please note that following a review, your grade may increase, decrease, or remain the same. The awarding bodies charge a fee for this service, which is refunded if the overall grade improves.

Cambridge Enquiry about Results (EAR)

For Cambridge International Education exams, component grades and component raw marks will be shared on your registered email address in a week, after the result release date.

All EAR requests related to Oct/Nov 2025 exams series must be submitted by 16 February 2026. The British Council will not accept any submissions received after the deadline.

About the Marking Process

  • Your exam papers are assessed by specialist examiners who follow a strict marking scheme. Principal examiners oversee the process to ensure grades are awarded fairly.
  • If your awarded grade is significantly different from your teacher’s prediction or your usual performance, your script is automatically reviewed and may be re-graded.
  • Borderline grades are also re-marked to ensure fairness.

If you think your awarded grade does not align with the quality of your work, Cambridge offers clerical re-checks and a full review of marking. You can apply for Enquiries about Results (EAR) directly through the British Council’s School Registration System (SRS).

  • School candidates: Contact your school directly. We do not accept private EAR applications from school candidates.
  • Private candidates: Follow the below guidelines to submit your EAR application by the given deadline.

How to Apply

1. Submit your request through the School Registration System (SRS) Portal.

2. Send the following documents through courier to “British Council, C/O British Deputy High Commission, Shahrah-e-Iran, Clifton, Karachi”.

  • Payment proof: A single consolidated bank demand draft, pay order, or bank deposit slip. You can also pay via ATM or IBFT to the Virtual Account assigned to you.
  • Copy of your statement of results

OxfordAQA provides several Review of Marking and Moderation

If you feel your grade does not accurately reflect your work, OxfordAQA provides several Review of Marking and Moderation (RoMM) services, including: clerical re-check, review of marking, access to scripts (ATS), Priority review. Some of these services are also available on a priority basis for urgent needs to meet university admission deadlines.

Note : Late, incomplete, or incorrectly completed applications will not be processed. Following any review, your grade may go up, down, or stay the same.

How to apply for OxfordAQA RoMM

  • Download and complete the OxfordAQA post-results services application form. Fill in the form carefully, ensuring all required details are complete and accurate.
  • Pay the fee: as mentioned in the form at the specified branches of the designated bank. Bank details are provided in the form.
  • Email your application: send a digital copy of the completed form along with a scanned copy of the yellow fee deposit slip to info@britishcouncil.org.pk before the deadline.

Priority Services: AS/A Level – 18 Aug 2025, GCSE – 25 Aug 2025
Regular Services: 15 September 2025

Pearson Edexcel Review of Marking and Moderation (RoMM)

How to apply for Pearson Edexcel re-marking

  • Download and complete the Pearson Edexcel Review of Marking and Moderation (RoMM)  form. Ensure all required details are filled in accurately and sign the form.
  • Pay the applicable fee at the designated bank listed on the form. Bank details are provided in the application.
  • Submit your request by email: send a scanned copy of the completed form along with the bank deposit slip to the British Council before the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.

You can also request Access to Scripts (ATS) to receive a copy of your marked exam paper. How to retake international exams

If you have decided that retaking your International GCSE, International AS & A Levels is the best path forward, you must register through our School Registration System (SRS) portal.

What you need to register for an exam retake

As a private candidate, you will need to provide the following to ensure your records are linked and previous marks (like coursework) are carried forward correctly:

  • Your previous centre number and candidate number.
  • A copy of your most recent Statement of Results.

How many times can you retake International GCSE, O Level and AS & A Levels?

An exam is officially considered a retake/resit only if the candidate has sat the same syllabus within the past year. 

 

Generally, there is no official limit to how many times you can resit an exam with Cambridge International Education, Pearson Edexcel or OxfordAQA. You can continue to sit for an exam as long as the syllabus is still available.


However, we recommend checking with your prospective university or employer, as some institutions may have specific policies regarding the number of attempts for certain competitive courses.
