SoundScape is the British Council’s flagship music programme which brings together artists, educators and industry leaders to celebrate Pakistan’s vibrant music ecosystem through learning, dialogue and international collaboration. Launched in 2023, the programme provides a space for curiosity, reflection, playfulness and connection.

The inaugural edition, co-curated by Mekaal Hasan and Natasha Ejaz, featured a diverse group of contributors including Maanu, Azfar Hussain, Natasha Noorani, Daniel Panjwaney, Sana Nasir, Hassan and Roshan, Talal Qureshi, Gumby and Arieb Azhar.

Building on the success and learnings from the inaugural edition, SoundScape 2025 brings together current and future stakeholders from British Council music programming to focus on the most pressing conversations emerging from Pakistan’s music sector today.

Pakistan’s music industry, rooted in centuries of rich tradition yet open to constant reinvention, presents a unique space for intergenerational dialogue. This programme celebrates legacy artists, spotlights emerging talent, and builds bridges between the two, fostering a collaborative and forward-looking musical future. At SoundScape, we aim to honour the many people who keep this dynamic, ever-evolving sector alive.
